In a late Friday release, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling that the “individual mandate” requirement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional, but found that this requirement was severable from the rest of the bill. This ruling creates a circuit split, as the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals found the mandate constitutional in July of this year. With this split, it is expected the Supreme Court will begin the process of deciding the case in the coming months.
