HHS Launches Video Contest to Persuade “Young Invincibles” to Get Covered

In an effort to tap the creative talents of the generation it needs to reach, HHS has announced a Healthy Young America video contest to spread the message that the “young invincibles” between 18 and 35 need coverage even if they are healthy. HHS will partner with Healthy Young America to administer the contest. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: (1) skits and stories with the message “you are not invincible”; (2) music videos; and (3) animation videos that incorporate certain facts.

Entries will be accepted until 11:59 pm on September 23, 2013. However, people who submit their entries by 11:59 pm on September 2, 2013 will be eligible for a $1,500 prize for the best of the early submissions.

Selection Process

Voting will begin on October 1 and end October 15, 2013. The public will vote for the top finalist in each of the three categories; judges will choose the second and third place finalists. There will be a second round of voting to choose the winner from among the nine finalists. The schedule for this second round will be announced the week of October 21, 2013. A panel of judges will choose the grand prize winner from among the four videos with the most votes.
