FDA Launches Advisory Committee Nomination Portal

The FDA announced an online portal on its website for people who wish to submit nominations for membership to any of the FDA’s 33 advisory committees. The portal makes paper nominations unnecessary and streamlines the process so the FDA can receive, evaluate, and nominate qualified individuals for membership quickly and efficiently. The current nomination process requires names be submitted to the FDA through email or regular mail.

Secure System

The secured system will store all applicant information and enable the FDA to develop standards for accessing the applicant pool to identify qualified candidates to fill specific vacancies on its advisory committees. In conjunction with the new portal, the FDA will be posting information on the FDA’s website regarding potential conflicts of interest that may affect nominated applicants.

Diversity Encouraged

The FDA will accept nominations for scientific members and consumer and industry representatives from professional societies, industry and consumer groups, and other interested persons and organizations. Interested candidates are required to provide detailed information on matters such as financial holdings, employment, and research grants and/or contracts. The FDA seeks diversity among the applicants and encourages nominations of qualified candidates from all races, ethnicities, genders, and those with disabilities.
